THE 'HAND OF FAITH' DISCOVERY
Kevin and Bep Hillier were gold detecting behind the Kingower State School on the 26th of September, 1980. They headed off in opposite directions and began metal detecting in separate areas.
Shortly after, Kevin yelled out in excitement that he had found a gold nugget and Bep ran over to join him. They began to dig until they finally reached the bottom. Unearthing the nugget, they realised what they had just discovered was ultimately historic as it weighed an astounding 27.2 kilograms.
Kevin’s wife, Bep claimed that the couple had some form of heavenly intervention, “People will say it was all coincidence and that’s fine. But that’s my Father up there…and he’s interested in everything we do.” To them, the rock looked like a hand making a blessing, therefore Bep and Kevin named the gold nugget the “Hand of Faith'
